FriendRaising

Dear friend,

We are really excited to be involved in God’s work in a war torn region; Gulu Northern Uganda. We are amazed to see how God touches lives, including our own, as we try to passionately work to restore hope to Child mothers and Child headed household families living in extreme poverty to relieve their suffering and to promote the transformation of their well being that leads to self-sufficiency

 Our project objectives are;

Ø To increase the economic strength and stability of their communities through project based initiatives such as clean water and sanitation, education, vocational skills and more.

Ø To provide immediate quality-of-life improvements through the provision
of basic needs.

Ø To provide long-term quality-of-life improvements through education and mentoring.

Ø To seek opportunities whenever possible to help reduce the level of conflict, contribute to peaceful resolution and reconciliation, and emotional healing

Ø To reduce illiteracy levels and improve standards of living with in a community by equipping families with Vocational skills for future careers and the job market competence

Ø By life, deed, word, and sign seek to make known to communities that God, in the person of Jesus Christ, offers hope of renewal, restoration, and reconciliation

We are working on raising our support team. As we thought of whom to share this with, you name came to mind. As you know, Robert and Judith Asaasira are supported by the gifts of interested friends, ministries and churches. Judith and I particularly seek to have folks on our team who know us and care for us.

We also are looking for individuals who share our deep burden to reach children for Christ. We sense that you do have that burden. I would like to invite you to join “Robert and Judith Asaasira support team” To achieve our support goal of USD $ 400 a month; we are seeking 20 support team members who would consider giving at least $ 20 a month.

By joining our support team, you will be giving much more than finances. You will become partners with us in imparting Biblical truth and long life skills to hurting children to better their livelihoods.

Thanks, friend, for willing to read this letter. Will you please ask the Lord for His leading in this matter? Of course give only as He leads you to. I look forward to receiving your response message.
Could you please let me know before August 1, 2007? Thanks!
Love From,

Robert and Judith Asaasira

TOGETHER WE SHAKE THE BRIDGE

Touch the world short term mission teams in Unyama and Keyo IDP camps

Partnership

Dream Center Uganda Ministries is excited about our partnerships with Touch the World ministries. Together, we seek to Work to contribute to the development and strengthening the well - being of War Affected Children in Northern Uganda through spiritual transformation, psychosocial support, vocational skills training, and capacity building of communities.

Touch the World Uganda ministries (TTWU) in Kampala, Papa Herb and his amazing Staff are impacting Gulu and the surrounding communities with the gospel message and have recently begun a capital campaign to begin to passionately work to restore hope to Child mothers and Child headed household families living in extreme poverty to relieve their suffering and to promote the transformation of their well being progress that leads to self-sufficiency.

Dream Center Uganda realizes the impact short term missions have on IDP camps; we have decided to partner with TTW in launching an aggressive strategy to send many of these short term missionaries, both youth and adults, on short term projects to Embrace, Evangelize, Encourage, Equip, and Enrich.

the broken hearted people of Northern Uganda.

God has opened many doors of opportunity for us to work with the displaced children of northern Uganda…and we want to bring hope to as many children as we

can……….as quickly as we can. There are so many ways you can help this work…would you find a place you feel led and join us? Would you help us financially? I know that you have a million people asking you to give to their work financially…there are a lot of great ministries out there…. yet I think that Dream Center Uganda is very unique in many ways…. Request our project proposal, statement of faith and our constitution

Working in these hard places is an expensive task and we need as many people as possible to give. Many of you have given generously and for that we are extremely grateful!

We hope to set up a carpentry work shop. our target for the carpentry is to equip these disadvantaged young people with skills that can enable them to create jobs for them selves. we intend to (God willing), facilitate them when they finish , with tools so that they can start an income generating workshop and be able to
work for their upkeep.

MISSION:

Working to contribute to the development and strengthening the well - being of War Affected Children in Northern Uganda through spiritual transformation, psychosocial support, vocational skills training, and capacity building of communities.

God fearing generation, life in all its fullness; Our prayer for every child, to experience God’s abundant grace that is Sufficient for every moment in every circumstance

Founded by Robert and Judith Asaasira, Rogers Atwebembeire, the lord began to speak to them about entering into this ministry in 2005. At first they shrank from the call and tried to dismiss it from their mind. But the lord continued to so burden in their hearts that they finally told the lord that “here we are lord use us”. God so remarkably did exactly what they asked, Robert and Judith Asaasira, and Rogers Atwebembeire, could no longer hold back. As a result Dream Center-Uganda

(DCU) was officially founded in January 2006.

A sacrifice of time and finances, but, a great investment

Child care program

DCU delivers efficient community-based services to thousands of people living in IDP Camps. The scholarship program through Friends has enabled over 5 of the underprivileged of Ugandan children attain education. Family empowerment projects have also been established to enable families of the sponsored children to undertake income-generating activities to improve on their income levels.

What can be done?

To get more children into school, Mr. Peter Illes has helped support Tracy. Tracy lives in the village of Pece, Gulu Municipality with her only grandmother. Mr. Peter decided he could support best by helping care for Tracy and the grand mother on a monthly basis. There many other helpless children in her community without food, good shelter and education. help one child to have a good home, food, scholastic materials and good tap water in order to have good health and clean environment. "Some of them just lose hope," "They start to think they have nothing to live for when they lose their parents."

It doesn't cost much to keep girls like Tracy in school: $200 buys a child's required uniforms, clothes, mattress blanket, and a pair of bed sheets, a pair of shoes plus socks, books and school fees for a start of school in Uganda. Contributions from Mrs. Debbie Miles and family have helped educate, sustain and maintain 2 children and their families in Keyo IDP camp. There are many opportunities to help, support and above all donate whether it be money or in kind. Read on and find out more in detail and join in the fun and do something positively with your life. I recently found this caption that got my attention and I hope it will get yours too!

IF YOU WANT HAPPINESS FOR A YEAR INHERIT A FORTUNE

IF YOU WANT HAPPINESS FOR A LIFE TIME, HELP SOMEBODY”

Short Term Missionaries; Jenna Lippincott

Greetings from Gulu!

My name is Jenna and I have been volunteering with Dream Center since the 3rd of July. I heard about the plight facing the people of Northern Uganda and knew God was calling me to come and serve the Acholi people. That was a year and a half ago and since then I have anticipated my arrival in Gulu. Only God could have prepared me for what I saw upon arrival at Unyama IDP camp. The conditions in which the people live are unbelievable. What shocked me the most was the amount of children living in the camps. After

Judith showed me around the camp I decided to strictly work with the children. When you see a child severely malnourished wearing a face that has lost all hope it changes your life. My goal is to bring hope back into these children’s lives by sharing the word of God with them, singing songs, and just loving them. This past week a group from the US came to work with us in the camps. When we were working in the camp, I observed God’s love shining through them. I witnessed how God gives us different gifts, but used in the same spirit to glorify God. Singing, dancing, rapping, preaching, and even painting was used to share the gospel. During the program a little girl named Patricia about the age of two approached me weary and quite skeptical of my skin color. As she poked and rubbed my skin I could not help but hug her. After that she followed me around the entire night, holding my hand at every chance. As I walked I began collecting other young girls all wanting to hold my hand. At one point I had three children per hand. Even though they held just one pinky they were content to just be touched by me. As I looked around I saw more children that desired to hold my hand, but I knew I could not hold them all. It pained me as I picked up Patricia and continued walking. I thought no matter how many children I sing, love, or sing with there will still be more that need love and attention. I wondered if children did the same to Jesus when He invited them to come to Him. Just to hold a finger would be fine for them. Is that not what we all want? To be touched just by the finger of God? However, God never runs out of fingers. No matter what, He will always have room for more and has an abundance of love. I originally was to leave Gulu a week ago, but I feel God has not finished His work through me. I could not imagine leaving with so much work left unfinished. Although I have been in Gulu for a little over two weeks God has moved in my life. I truly feel blessed to have been given this opportunity to come to Uganda and volunteer at Dream Center. It has been an experience of a lifetime and I pray God continues to work through Robert and Judith in the camps and the Lord blesses them.

Peace and Sunshine,

“If you want happiness for a life time, help somebody”

Short Term Missionaries

Naomi and Rachael arrived safely to Gulu on Monday June 11 at around 6 pm Uganda time. Judith and I picked them from Kampala; we were a little late getting to the bus park, However we made it safely to Gulu. For the past one week they have been going to Keyo, an IDP camp in the area. They have been ministering to the people there. The first day they spoke to about 20 young women –mostly child mothers between the ages of fifteen and twenty. They taught them about cleanliness.

The people in the IDP camp have so many medical problems, so they kept peppering Naomi and Rachael with questions about what their conditions are called, where they come from, and how to treat them. Some of the things they could tell, by common sense, but for the most part their answers consisted of “Keep it clean and go to the doctor.”

They also did a children’s program on two of the days. It included Bible stories, memorization, and singing songs. They taught them “Jesus Loves Me” in Acholi, and it was awesome to hear them singing it as they left the meeting. What is better than to hear children walking around singing “Yes, Jesus loves me…” even if it was the only thing they learned from the lesson. Naomi told them the story of Jonah and the Whale and how important it is to obey God when He tells you to do something even if we don’t like what He is saying. Rachel talked to the child mothers about newborns and how to take care of them properly. After that we refreshed their memories about “cleanliness of the body” and then Rachel told them about “cleanliness of the soul”. Rachel presented the gospel message to them and at the end Naomi took over and told them that if they truly believed what Rachel was talking about, they could follow her in a prayer and confess their need for a Savior. We made sure to emphasize that they should only do this if they truly believed in Jesus and what He did for them on the cross. Naomi started the prayer and Judith (my wife) . translated. About half the girls present repeated it in Acholi. Right after we finished praying Naomi told them how happy she was and that now we were all sisters. They laughed at that and seemed to enjoy hearing that. The pastor we work with Pastor Robinson Ayella promised that he would follow up and continue to disciple the new believers. The ministry is so far so good we are very excited and encouraged. We’re grateful that the Lord has brought Naomi and Rachael to us. We have also had several people start the application process to Volunteer with Dream Center Uganda in Northern Uganda. We are humbled that these amazing men and women of God would join us in this work among the least of the least. In August Julie oostidyke, the nurse will be here to do medical services in the IDP camps for 2 years in Northern Uganda. We will continue to pray for her preparations and flight to Uganda. We have also had several people start the application process to Volunteer with Dream Center Uganda in Northern Uganda. We are humbled that these amazing men and women of God would join us in this work among the least of the least.

It seemed so impossible

As I considered the price, one would pay to buy a laptop Computer in Uganda to use for Dream Center work, it seemed too expensive to the extent that I still could not see any possibility of getting one. How would it work out? Could it really be bought? I knew that only God could work out all the details and provide all the resources that we needed. He alone could make the impossible possible. So how did God do it? First of all, we had faith beyond reasonable doubt that what is impossible with man is possible with God. At dream center Uganda we believe in asking God and telling His people about our needs. God uses People. We kept on wring to friends requesting them to pray that God would provide laptop and also to tell their friends about our work in Gulu. Rachael and Naomi shared with their friends and God provided through them $ 1000 for a laptop. We are so grateful and thankful to God for a new Toshiba satellite Laptop Computer

God did exceeding abundantly above!

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, with Him be glory…..” I have to admit, to my shame that it did seem very impossible. But God made the impossible possible. In fact, He did exceeding abundantly

above! We are awed by His goodness and supply.
